About#
Elementary teacher by day, and botanical vulture by night. While I wear many hats, as a mother, a sister, a partner, a teacher, a friend, Jellybird is my creative identity; the part of me who does not serve a purpose or a function to anybody else.
Featured Work#

I have been enamoured with creating botanical imprints, using fallen flowers and leaves that I have collected from walks over the years. Each piece is carefully pressed, and immersed in a dye-bath, made of natural pigments, and left to simmer for 1-2 hours. Afterwards, the drying process takes approximately 7 days to complete. Select pieces are then mounted in second-hand frames that have been restored.
I think about the meaning and significance of the materials I work with - flowers that were once in bloom, bouquets that were assembled with care, and gifted from the heart. Picture frames that marked momentous accomplishments, and preserved treasured memories…and yet, nothing lasts forever. What stays with us is the connection that was shared in that moment. My artwork is a small attempt to breathe life back into what has already perished, because beauty never dies completely.

Featured Artwork#
The art presented in this exhibit spans nearly a decade of Carson’s explorations into spontaneous art creation wherein the art is made gradually without planning or pencils ahead of time and instead starts with a brush and ink. As the drawing evolves, Carson will make decisions about composition and subject matter, allowing the painting to grow and evolve organically.
Despite vastly disparate subject matter, much of Carson’s work explores themes of life, death, and decay in various states, as well as the way those changes impact their environment and the characters that inhabit them.
From mechanical wastelands and the beasts that live in them, to a quiet moment in a fungal forest, Carson’s work shows how the spaces between life and destruction can be both calm and terrible, and ultimately beautiful.
